Meet Klein and Klein

It is no coincidence our company name has two Klein’s. We have been together for 45 years spinning in somewhat parallel directions until we joined forces over a decade ago to offer clients an extensive range of marketing, writing, and research services. While Jim has been focused on advertising, design, and marketing, Marti has worked on project planning, social research, and copy writing.

Jim Klein

Creative Director and Principal

Jim Klein serves as the creative director for Klein + Klein where he directs leading marketing designs programs, branding initiatives, and advertising campaigns for a wide range of clients and industries.

In 1993, after ten years serving as creative director for several advertising agencies, Jim founded his own corporate communications firm.

Klein + Klein clients include organizations in a variety of industries ranging from government agencies; aerospace; industrial, commercial, and residential real estate developers; health care; restaurants; and several transportation agencies Many of his annual reports, outreach programs, and web-based projects have garnered recognition including Adwheel and Protos awards.

Jim Klein holds a BA in Design from UCLA.

Marti Klein

Principal, Research Director, and Senior Project Manager  

Ms. Klein is an experienced researcher, creative concepting team member, editor, proofreader, and corporate copywriter with the ability to write for diverse audiences.  She holds a BA in Geography from UCLA and a graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San Jose State University, and did graduate work in Epidemiology at California State University Northridge.

She began her career as a Research Aide at the RAND Corporation, and has many years of experience in the urban planning, real estate research, and environmental fields, including as an administrative law adjudicator for the South Coast Air Quality Management District. She also has over twenty years of experience teaching college-level Geography.

A respected maritime historian, her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr. Gardner works on projects for a variety of clients and industries, including transportation clients such as the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and OC Bus and OC Metrolink outreach.  He has over ten years of experience working on transportation-oriented projects, having served as a graphic designer for OCTA.  Mr. Gardner holds an undergraduate degree In Art from California State University, Fullerton, with an emphasis on illustration, and has thirtyyears of experience as an artist and art director for a wide array of commercial clients, including managing a group of ten designers responsible for producing presentation graphics for the aerospace industry.

Ed Gardner

Graphic Designer

Ms. Tutino is responsible for administrative oversight and project coordination.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University where she graduated with distinction.  An experienced regional Commercial Insurance Team Manager for a major insurance company, she supervised a support team, researched and found resolutions for Department of Insurance complaints, and was responsible for creating budgets, customer retention, and business growth and profitability, including timely and accurate project delivery and adherence to company guidelines.   Ms. Tutino also served as the administrative manager for an architectural consulting firm, with responsibility for contractual compliance and business operations.  In her spare time, she volunteers for community organizations.
